We found FREE camping in the OkanaganValley

The second leg of our Okanagan Valley circle route took us to the town of Oliver where we found a free campsite. The Okanagan Valley is notoriously fully booked and expensive for camping in the summer months, so showing up on a first come first served basis was a risk we were taking in order to keep our plans flexible and trip cheap.

It totally paid off as we found a great site at the Burnell Recreation Site just outside of Oliver. The road to the site was a bit bumpy and narrow, but we managed to get our 24 foot travel trailer up there, and have a secluded and quiet weekend to ourselves.

We had so much fun walking around and floating on the lake, and doing a campground wine tasting. The Oliver area is home to a plethora of vineyards, so we didn’t have to go far to pick up a few bottles to bring back to the campsite. That way we could all enjoy a tasting without having to have a designated driver. On top of that, we brought back some food and made an evening of it.

Until next time, keep on living the life you’ve imagined!
