Cowboys in British Columbia

When I realised that we were heading to Canada’s country music capital and traveling through one of the most arid and desert-like environments in the country, I just knew we had to nickname this trip the Cowboy Loop.

Circle tours, or loops, are a great way to see a bunch of different places in one trip while starting and ending in the same place. The route can be as large or small of a loop as you wish and you can spend as much time as you want in each place. For this trip, we chose a small circle with a lot of stops so that we could really get a taste of what the region has to offer.

The beginning of our journey starts in this video where we discover the beautiful ponderosa pine forests around Merritt while staying at Monck Provincial Park. It was so interesting to see the landscape completely change before our eyes with every kilometer we drove. Our home base in Hope is nestled at the base of the Cascade Mountains and as soon as we drove over them we found ourselves in a grassy, arid, and flatter area with rolling hills instead of towering mountains. It was absolutely stunning.

From Monck Park we had a short drive to Lac le Jeune where our surroundings changed again to a dense alpine forest that reminded us of Northern Ontario.

Until next time, keep on living the life you’ve imagined!
