The Alexandra Bridge

Our visit to the Alexandra Bridge, thirty minutes outside of Hope BC, was our last stop on a loop trip before heading back to our home base. It’s an easy pit stop to miss on the highway so we were happy to have google maps ready to alert us when we were getting close. Blink and you’ll miss the small parking lot. A picnic area with outhouses is found here, and there is a short 1 km walk to the bridge, mostly downhill.

Once at the bridge you can watch the Fraser River flowing underneath and see the new Alexandra bridge (the trans-Canada highway) downstream. One the other side of the bridge evidence of a road that would have run along the eastern bank crumbles away and is being reclaimed by the forest. It’s a nice stop to stretch the legs and take in a piece of British Columbia’s history.

Until next time, keep on living the life you’ve imagined!
