Traveling with an RV can be one of the best ways to explore a new place. As someone who loves to travel in my RV, I recently had the pleasure of visiting Prince George, British Columbia. This charming city offers plenty of things to see and do, and I’ve put together a list of some of the top experiences to check out while you’re here.
One of the first things you’ll want to see in Prince George is Mr. PG, a 27-foot-tall statue made of fiberglass and cement. Mr. PG was originally made of wood but has been rebuilt due to decay. He has lived in various places around town and can now be found at the corner of Highway 16 and Highway 97. This iconic statue is something you won’t want to miss when you come to Prince George.
Another must-see attraction in the city is the David Douglas Botanical Garden, which is currently located on the UNBC campus. The garden features 16 different varieties of thyme, and it’s a lovely place to take a stroll and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. If you’re a nature lover, make sure to bring bug repellent and long clothing, as mosquitoes can be abundant in the area.

The total driving distance from Vancouver to Prince George is around 800 km, so be prepared to spend around 10 hours on the road.
If you're driving from Alberta or the rest of BC, you'll need to take the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16) and follow the signs to Prince George. The total driving distance from Edmonton to Prince George is around 800 km, and the journey can take up to 9 hours.

There are plenty of RV campgrounds in and around Prince George, so you don't have to worry about finding a place to park your RV. However, making a reservation is recommended during the summer months because the area gets very busy with campers.
We stayed at MamaYeh RV Park, just 20 minutes from the heart of the city. The large sites with full hookups had a national park feel to it with all of the large trees between sites. The owner, Edward, was very friendly and helpful to make sure we had everything we needed, too.
