Traveling with an RV is a great way to explore new places and experience different cultures. Recently, Jay and I decided to take a trip to Chilliwack, BC for a country fair. We hadn't been to a fair like this before, but we were excited to see all the animals, enjoy some entertainment, and try some delicious food.

The Chilliwack Fair is held annually at the Chilliwack Heritage Park in the beginning of August. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a variety of animals including cows, horses, sheep, goats, chickens, and even alpacas. But my favorite animals by far were the baby pigs. They were absolutely adorable. We were also lucky enough to catch some of the chicks on their first day after they were hatched.

Another key aspect of the Chilliwack fair was the delicious food. We tried as many food options as we could, starting with the Chilliwack corn on the cob. This corn was some of the best we've ever had, super sweet and crunchy. We also tried some indigenous fried bread known as bannock, which was my absolute favorite fair food. Our stomachs were definitely satisfied, but we couldn't resist trying more.

We also tried a salmon sandwich wrapped in bannock, pulled pork barbecue, and even deep-fried ice cream balls sprinkled with sugar and chocolate. The pulled pork sandwich was Jay’s favorite of the day.  

Apart from the food and animals, there were also some exciting events taking place at the fair. The barrel racing event involved horses and riders running a cloverleaf pattern around a set of barrels in the fastest time. We were also intrigued by ranch sorting, a competition where teams of two riders work against the clock to move cattle from one pen to another in numerical order.

Our trip to the Chilliwack fair was definitely a memorable experience. It was a great opportunity to learn about Canadian culture and try some delicious food while enjoying some entertaining performances and events.
