We start the long drive back from Ontario to British Columbia, but this time we are expediting it into six days in an effort to avoid winter driving conditions through the Rocky Mountains. In this first of three videos, we cover days one to four from Waterloo, Ontario to Brandon, Manitoba. Along the way, we learn a valuable lesson in fuel management, stop to see some ‘big’ attractions, and don’t pay a cent on accommodations.
The year is finishing and that means our video about the end of our trip to Ontario has also arrived. You may remember that we took fourteen days to travel from our homebase in British Columbia to Ontario, but the journey back was much shorter - only 6 days (five of which were driving days).
Since it was nearing mid-October, we didn’t want to waste any time getting over the Rocky Mountains. Winter driving conditions, we had been told, can happen sporadically as early as the end of September. In fact, 2 days after leaving Calgary in September, they got their first snowfall of the season! More on this in the third, and final, video of the drive home.
First, we take you through the first four days from Waterloo, Ontario to Brandon, Manitoba. Along the way we learn a valuable lesson in fuel management, stop to see some ‘big’ attractions, and don’t pay a cent on accommodations.
Then next week, we have a video on a hike Jay took at the Sleeping Giant provincial park near Thunder Bay, Ontario. You won’t want to miss the incredible views he sees at the top of this incredible natural wonder.
