One of my favorite destinations on Vancouver Island is Nanaimo, BC. This coastal town is home to nearly 100,000 residents and boasts breathtaking scenery, delicious food, and exciting activities.

One of the most iconic things about Nanaimo is its famous Nanaimo bar, a dessert consisting of  chocolate and custard flavored icing layers over a crumbly base. You can find these tasty treats at many local bakeries and cafes, and I highly recommend trying one.

But there's more to Nanaimo than just dessert. One of my favorite outdoor activities is exploring the tidal flats during low tide. You can find many boat launches around town where you can do some tide pooling and observe the fascinating creatures that live under the sand. I've spotted sea stars, crabs, and even seals at these locations.

For hiking enthusiasts, there are many trails to explore around Nanaimo. The Cable Bay Trail offers stunning views of the coastline and rock formations. The trail is easy to moderate, making it suitable for families with children or beginner hikers.

For a more challenging hike, I recommend checking out Mount Benson. This hike offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area, including views of the city and mountains. It can be a strenuous hike, but the reward at the top is well worth it. Just make sure to bring plenty of snacks and water for the climb!

When you're ready to relax, head over to Piper's Lagoon. This beautiful spot offers warm, shallow water and a sandy beach. Perfect for unwinding after a long hike. And if you're brave enough, you can even take a dip in the water!

Nanaimo is also full of history and culture. Make sure to visit the local museum, which features artifacts from the city's past and indigenous communities.

In conclusion, Nanaimo, BC is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling in an RV. With stunning scenery, delicious food, and exciting activities, you won't be disappointed. So pack your bags and hit the road, adventure awaits in Nanaimo!
